The pleasant oceanfront and downtown
sections of Santa Barbara are graced by Early California architecture,
with a number of motels, shops and restaurants. I had a delicious
pastry at one bakery on State Street, followed by a mile or two
walk about the Old Town. Government buildings blend in nicely
with the old Colonial motif. Maps, brochures, and directions,
for a walking tour, are available at the Chamber of Commerce kiosk
