The pleasant oceanfront and downtown sections of Santa Barbara are graced by Early California architecture, with a number of motels, shops and restaurants. I had a delicious pastry at one bakery on State Street, followed by a mile or two walk about the Old Town. Government buildings blend in nicely with the old Colonial motif. Maps, brochures, and directions, for a walking tour, are available at the Chamber of Commerce kiosk along the oceanfront street. Photos taken December 18, 1998, by Petesthousandpeaks.
