Truckee, CA, was one of my favorite towns. When I began skiing 28 years ago, it was yet still a sleepy railroad town. Investments poured into the area with the advent of the boom in skiing. Now, many trendy businesses line the main streets, with fine dining, and even art galleries, in the style of so many western mountain towns. You won't get a room at the dollar advertised price seen here, but highly reasonable rates can be found in Reno, NV, 30 miles eastward. Photo taken February 15, 2001, by Petesthousandpeaks.
