Truckee, CA, was one of my favorite
towns. When I began skiing 28 years ago, it was yet still a sleepy
railroad town. Investments poured into the area with the advent
of the boom in skiing. Now, many trendy businesses line the main
streets, with fine dining, and even art galleries, in the style
of so many western mountain towns. You won't get a room at the
dollar advertised price seen here, but highly reasonable rates
can be found in Reno, NV, 30 miles eastward. Photo taken February
