REVERSED PEAK AND ANVIL CAMP BACKPACK April 26-30, 1990

Up for another springtime adventure along the Eastern Sierra, I had attended the Earth Day activities at the State Capitol. Then, it was south along U.S. 395, and to a hike of Reversed Peak by June Lake. We did find a trail, but it was faint and overgrown. Making it to the summit rocks, we found a register and I captured the views.

Back to our car, we continued south and met a group for a climb of Mt. Tyndall. Backpacking up the Shepard Pass Trail, we made it to Anvil Camp. I forgot to have my aluminum foil windscreen for my Bleuet stove, so couldn't boil water. I had enough spare water for my hike out, so after an interesting sunset, that's what I did. The others did the climb, which I was to do the next year.

I had the car keys, so motored into town for a meal, and waited at the trailhead. It snowed the next morning, and the Inyos were covered in white. I knew my group had good gear, and hiked partway back up the trail to see them coming down. They finally returned, successful on the peak, but getting snow at camp. They had a story to tell, but we soon motored back out and left for home.
