THORTON POINT 72X, RATTLESNAKE MOUNTAIN 101X June 4, 2022

Getting to feel more and more poorly over the months, I had gone to the medical provider to see if they could figure out what was wrong with me. They did some tests, and they all came up negative. The days were getting longer and warmer, so after a night of no sleep, I got groceries at a supermarket newer to me. Years ago, I bagged Mt. Rose after two nights of sleeplessness, when I had this same problem of low drive and energy.

I decided that I was okay with trying a short hike, as the provider suggested exercise for heart health. Mostly, I am simply too exhausted and weak to try to bag even a small peak, preferring to catch some online videos on road trips and travel about the Pacific West, staying updated on the news, and tracking the economic forecasts. Though I look to have good genes, with family living into their 80's, I seek a caregiver or any friend. Mostly fakes or dubious people on the Net, and nobody's interested in finding out about my spare rooms, and being a roommate.

After unloading the groceries, I motored back out to East Keystone TH to bag Thorton Point 72X. Entries into the register encouraged me, and I noted several attractive women preparing to mountain bike. It was windy and cold on top, and I did fear for falling over and injuring myself. Not done, I motored south on the main street, dash cams running, and thought that traffic was so light due to the record high gas prices.

Myself having gone fully electric two years ago, nobody ever has been interested in teaming up for peak bagging or road trips. I've mostly been there, done that, and my idea for sharing costs lead me to request up to a $50,000 deposit for riding along, fully refundable on there being no damage to the car. I fear for malicious and hateful, violent, sick people by my ridesharing experiences with the Sacramento enviro hiking club. Appearing that the local club hikers support their vicious hate, and also that they hate peak bagging, I won't be providing zero emissions transportation for them. I'd request 25 cents per mile per passenger in divvying up expenses.

With still no replacement outhouse at the Huffaker Hills TH, I checked the register atop Rattlesnake Mountain 101X, and chatted with a friendly enough hiker, but mindful of the 99% spam and telemarketing that had caused me to set my phone to do not disturb near all of the time, requested him to use Facebook Messenger to contact me. I direct people to my website where I provide links, and I say that in two or three clicks or taps, we can be video chatting.

What comes out of the blue in regards to peak bagging and shared travel ops, but it seems now or more and more, I'd have to decline. I'm past 70 yo, and don't have much of the travel bug or wanderlust that I had up to last summer. Depressed and lonely, I even deleted the links to my trail angel services, as I have no energy or will to go picking up thru-hikers. Nobody much wanted cold drinks or ice cream as I tended to hikers at Sierra Summit along the Tahoe Rim Trail, but I can hope to get more drive to provide services to hikers.

This year hasn't been like last year. I had been locating waterfalls, doing the peaks, dining, and having safe fun. I expect the fire season to smoke up the air, and then it'll be living in my home, air filters on, and going to dine when I feel the urge for some urban exploration.
