RATTLESNAKE MOUNTAIN 85X October 29, 2021

With repeated requests to the NV DMV about the status of my drivers license, I suppose that either they're too busy or just now ignore me. With no official notice received as far as my license, I continued to drive my car. With some hope as to getting approval by a doctor, I just hope they've granted me an extension. Continuing to go and get food, I mostly stayed locally, with groceries and sub sandwiches. I feared for a tire boot, which would lock down my car.

With the cold air blowing into my rooms, I sought assist from the smart home vendor, and the last, nice rep could only install my rod and curtain for my skylight window, and I paid him $60 for his efforts. There perhaps is some software glitch, as the colder air continues to blow in at night by the ventilation system. My energy bill may be including this, so I don't like it.

After getting some more cash from an ATM, I got diet soda at the fast food. In need of some exercise, I bagged the Rattlesnake 85X later in the day, at sunset. Reviewing my old notes, I had gone for years without much peak or bump bagging. I had become depressed and lethargic at my then newer Reno home, sleeping all day, and up just to get to the computer and my messages. It had been up to 70 degrees today, so good for a short hike. I'm back to sleeping a lot, but do motor out to get diet soda and food.

I had Vietnamese soup today, which is a good, hearty, hot meal. Soon, I should get my dash cams fixed, then back to sharing videos on driving up the main street. I chalk it up to old age as I lose my energy, but as this has happened to me before, I dream of yet another comeback. Spending too much money for my tight budget, I leave it to my credit cards, which have been getting paid off in full. I depleted some savings, but still with investments, I can pay off the bills, yet.

Frugal with no road trips, I have no sharing travel or hiking partners. If I found anybody to help travel, it'd be to what proximate destinations for peak bagging and dining fun. Love it for a short trip to the Bay Area, with power and shared lodging or camping to be split. I get some 300 miles to go with some $20 by the Supercharger, and could take 4 others in my car. If people would rather pay their $4+ per gallon, then the maintenance costs, so be it with the hiking clubs. Almost nobody drives from Reno to bag California peaks, let alone the local peaks that I have placed registers.

The pandemic looks to be with us for many more years, by the news, but I do look forward to dine-in at the local restaurants. I motor some 20 miles a day to get refills on my diet soda, then other dining out there as I see fit. With never any more accidents or problems in my driving, I will soon have to pay my auto insurance. That could be a financial problem, but I hope for some financial salvation. Come the new year, we all should be getting sizable COLAs as far as pension, and government benefits, so this ought to really help.

With weak responses as to my job offers, I may be getting work done about my home. There's now the bracing of the 2 x 4 that holds my security cams with their views of the sunrise and sunset. Some finishing to painting my garage, all perhaps some two hours work total. With all this finally done, my home will be set and secure. Then to health and peak bagging is my now dream, with my budget adhered to nicely.

No friends or even any travel partner to look forward to, so likely to be stuck about home. Who knows what the future will bring, but I hope to go on with my peak and bump bagging. Happy from 2015 to 2020 when I sold my Fallon home, I did live it up while in Las Vegas. Managing a couple of safe and successful road trips, lately, I see it as a shame that tragedy does seem to strike the less fortunate or experienced.
