HIGHPOINT OF NORTH VALLEYS REGIONAL PARK 126X October 16, 2021

Sleeping late after the now colder mornings, I woke up past Noon, to get to the computer. Then going to the supercenter fast food, I had my diet soda with a 6" sub. I like it to rest nicely at a table, with my phone getting the social media news. I forgot to insert my memory card into my camera, so I had to shoot with my phone. After groceries, I motored the short way to the main parking lot for North Valleys Regional Park. Doing my hike to the top, the flag that I had placed was doing nicely. Back to use the outhouse, I quickly returned home, and ate some cherry turnovers, then motored out for more tacos and similar, later.

Back to the computer, I started with webwork, and with good indoor temperatures, relaxed well. Thinking of the enviro hiking club back in my old home town, they disallow activities presumably due to Covid, though I'm so aware that they hate hiking. Many or most of my older, former companions are now dead or in care homes. What few younger hikers were never interested in peak bagging. So goes the peak baggers of the L. A. sections, with nothing scheduled or now allowed.

Back in about 1994, one gritty peak bagger did contact me to team up. We enjoyed safe and successful carpools and peak bagging trips with the DPS for years, and I began to make road trips to the Desert with my 60 mpg. Then with my 45 mpg Saturn, I started visiting the National Parks and other scenic destinations. Bagging peaks that none of them would ever do, I enjoyed the road trips. Myself proud of my accomplishments, one liar Club hiker says now, "What the H*** does it matter where you've been?" He goes on with his claims to what never happened, as certified by that chapter of the enviro hiking club.

With my 50+ years of experience, I can understand reticence for teaming up with strangers on the Net. Though I hand out my business cards on the trails, no one ever messages me for carpools, I guess preferring to pay the $4+/gallon than ever no pollution.
