RATTLESNAKE MOUNTAIN 25X March 9, 2021

Up really early, I tended to my tech business. I made some breakfast, trying to stay energized and ready for what adventures. Seeing all of my computers and devices ready with updates, I had received T-shirts from the online company yesterday. With the iPod Touches received about a week ago, I was ready to prepare my care packages. With snacks coming from the online retailer, I jumped the gun, and picked up some groceries from the local superstore.

Placing snacks into the boxes, where I already had T shirts and electronics, I taped on labels that I printed this early morning. One box was too small to add a can of Heineken 0.0, so I had to leave that out.

Tired and sleepy, I had to go back to bed. With music streaming from a popular artist, I rested to get energy. With four boxes loaded into the car, I took some T shirts to give out if there were more needy. With only 7 iPods from the used retailer, I had tried to order more, but this was not possible. I will see if I get any messages, and then decide whether to try to get more.

Eager to see how this gets taken, I motored to the Virginia Street Exit. Giving two boxes away, I captured photos with permission. I had to circle about, to make sure they all got the right size T shirt.

Motoring then to Huffaker Hills TH, I bagged the Rattlesnake 25X. Asking one hiker if he saw the register, he said that he does not sign in. I advised of a hiker job, but he was not interested. With photos of the view, with glorious clouds with sun and blue skies, I had the summit to myself. With less wind, and good light, I captured photos of the summit register.

I again forgot to turn off the hiking app, so I did not get the stats. As one person at the exit, advised of another guy, I returned to the exit, and donated another care package. None of them were wearing the T shirts, with the lettering asking nicely for help. It does seem to be somewhat of an ad, so I respect their views about it. The T shirts are roomy, so they can wear them over their regular clothing, looking like mainly outdoor wear.

I consider the care packages funded by the hiking club ban, as I do not spend my money anymore to give rides to hikers and adventurers, as I once did. Also, I no longer spend on what 9 years of dues, and also donations, or ever their newsletters. Also, one casino had kicked me out, with a near deaf security guard. The cash that I planned to gamble away, to kill time when I locked myself out of my house, now goes to needy people, who I guess camp on the River, or wherever they can.

With limited resources, I will see if anybody wears my T shirts. That decides if I spend even more for this, as so far I have spent only a few hundred. To make people aware of my efforts, and perhaps to enjoy my web posts. Also to inform hikers, so they do not suffer loss, injury, or death.

Rescues do cost the taxpayer, and many of the incidents come from stupid hikers. As I have seen with the hiking club, getting people lost with the wrong directions, such apparently malicious behavior gets reward and votes. I got banned, and such people go on with praise and fame for their actions. Even to this day, their publications send hikers the wrong way, with even death as the result.

When I started all this peak bagging, some law enforcement put my attention to the club guidebooks. Them suggesting that this was why the expenses and trouble for SAR and all to even risk their lives, and get killed. I always supported safety, with modern techniques taught by the mountaineering school. I bought ropes and hardware near right after my being taught. In 1975 or so, I had to sell off most of my gear at distress prices, as I had to pay my rent. I did keep the ropes and a little of the hardware. Certainly the pitons had to go, as I believed in clean climbing.

With then a flourishing and safe rock climbing section, this was shortly banned or refused, with liability and danger as the chapter depiction. In 1987, they pulled the last straw, and climbing was pretty much banned, as the will of overweight, moron execs. People that did everything wrong were put in charge, and so hikers got lost, hurt, and even killed. I sometimes dream of the old days, where we climbed smartly as a group. With the media hysteria about injury and death to even hikers, so our doom was sealed.
