TIOGA PEAK 7X July 11, 2021

Up good and early, I had a light breakfast and finished with yesterday's post. With coffee, I decided to head for Yosemite National Park. Leaving at dawn, I motored south on U. S. 395. Stopping to use restrooms, and to get drink, I paid some $6+ to Supercharge at Topaz Lake Lodge. This was enough to get me to the day's destination, and even back home. I declined photo stops, as I have shot the views from vistapoints so many times before.

At the USFS Mono Lake visitor center, I got information. Then to motor up west on CA 120, to park at the Gardisky Lake TH. Starting my climb, I encountered two heavy hikers. I passed them up quickly, and gained the ridge with the use trail. Summitting in 1:45, I had made great time. Capturing the views, I signed into the register. Solo on the summit, I started back down. Coming across the male hiker, I told him of the way to go.

Refreshing myself with a rest and drink, I had slathered on sunscreen and bug repellant at my start, so was okay with bugs and the high altitude sun. Back to the trail, I made short work of the descent. To the car early, I figured to drive back home. Camping would be a hassle, with mostly reservations only. I drank so much diet soda and tea, that I likely wouldn't get to sleep anyway.

Back to Lee Vining, I bought notecards from the Mono Lake Committee Store. Then to stop by the USFS visitor center again, to let them know I was back safely from the peak. With a photo stop for the Sawtooth Ridge, I had a burger in Minden, NV. Making it back home with 12 miles of range left, I sure enjoyed this day of travel and a peak bag.
