LAS VEGAS DAY SIXTEEN November 26, 2020

Thanksgiving Meal and Lone Mountain (3,342’) 10X

Up early again, I worked on my website to upload yesterday’s camera work. Then also to figure my finances. Back to bed, I got up at about 6:30 a.m. I had a small breakfast of chips. I’d save my appetite for the deluxe turkey meal at some restaurant. About 10:40 a.m, I walked to the nearby casino, and took photos of the art. I had to wait 15 minutes to get my table by walk-in reservation.

Having a roasted turkey meal with mashed potatoes and green beans, I had a pumpkin pie for dessert. Stepping into the gift shop, I bought a $8.97 T shirt. They support convenience payment here, so I’ll be back. Just outside is the Las Vegas Arch. Many cars have been driving under it, or maybe just always a lot of traffic.

Back home, I needed my daily exercise, so Lone Mountain 10X was my choice. I knew the route by heart, so beelined to the trailhead. Windy and cold, I had four layers on. Using the facility as usual, I bagged the peak. Other hikers appeared with no warm clothes. The register was moved again, to be wedged under the hazard sign base. Too windy for many photos, maybe a quarter of the book was filled up, albeit spaced out entries. I wedged it back under the sign base, as rocks might not hold the lightweight container lid from the wind.

With more photos as I descended, it felt better to be out of the strong wind. Meaning to head home, it was approaching magic hour. Taking the Tropicana Exit from I-15 south, I had three dash cams running. Traffic flowed smoothly, as it’s a holiday. I hit streaks of green lights, so motored on through. Taking pictures as I was stopped by slow traffic lights, I had paid a man $15 for an hour’s video chat this morning.

Home, I downloaded the photo and videos, all to be placed online. Working on my web post, this went to later in the night. Yesterday, I was too tired to finish webwork and cooking any dinner. I had edited the movie clips, so to post the videos online. I previously had captured climbers on red rock, and resting, with the rope to support people’s weight.

No word yet on permission to place the register, but it was up for the holiday. Many entries, and with so many hikers to write in their comments, I’d best get more books. Bancroft will get lot of books, and I hope they don’t refuse them, as they’re all from another state than California. Some registers have gorgeous art work, some posted here on this website. Pity that some person has to draw in the boy scout anatomical drawings, as the club guidebook says. Nothing yet of this sort, but I was unable to look at all the pages, today, as it was so windy.

So, a glorious holiday, with a gourmet turkey meal, and affordable, then an easy peak. I start to wish that I bought a home here, as I love this town. Shame to have winds, but the air was so clear!

Movie clips.
