PETE'S THOUSAND PEAKS WEBSITE TECHNICAL INFORMATION

For those interested, this website was created and run using Adobe PageMill 3.0 on a Rev. B, iMac, Apple computer, later with an eMac Combo computer running Classic, Mac OS 9.2.2. Sitemeter provides the hit counter, and Dartmouth College offered the FTP clients I use, Fetch 3.0.3, and now, Fetch 5.3.

Using two Nikon Coolpix digital cameras, mainly a L5, and L10, sometimes as back-up, I utilize mostly 1 GB San Disk SD memory cards, with also a 512 MB Kingston card, then 1 GB and 2 GB PQI 60x high speed cards. Formerly mainly using a Coolpix 880, L4 (both of which still serve, sometimes), and a 2000, most images captured before April, 2001, were digitized with a Minolta Scan Dual III film scanner from Kodachrome 64 transparencies, taken mostly using a Nikon FM or FM2. For many of my former, pre-April, 2001, archival images, I used a Umax 1220U flatbed scanner with a UTA-3A transparency adaptor, scanning Kodachrome 64 slides!

I've used Adobe PhotoDeluxe 3.0 (running with Mac OS 8.6, then OS 9.2.2), and currently, Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, running with Mac OS 10.4.11, to work on the original images. Panorama Maker 3.0.1.37 creates the longitudinal images displayed on a few webpages. I'm now also using iPhoto 7.1.4, running on Mac OS 10.5.4.

I'll be pleased to help interested, good-willed, persons to start work on their own websites. My Hostik website is hosted by Lanset Communications, as part of my 1 GB lite hosting webspace. Aside from the costs of the digital equipment, travel, and some photo-editing software, I spend only a modest annual fee to maintain my site. Therefore, it remains ad-free.
