PEAK 5,990' May 22, 2021

Finishing some webwork, I had nothing to do today. Seeking fine food, I got breakfast at the new fav casino. With inclement weather but no rain forecast, I recalled doing a hike from Clean Water Way with the local hiking club. I figured that the roads would lead to the top of Peak 5,990', which was another bucket list goal locally. I had summited this 2X or so before with the Great Basin Group of the Sierra Club decades ago, when things were better. Then, they were friendly, and not blocking me from comments on their Meet-Up pages.

Using my Maps and phone navigator, with faint memories, I guessed right at the way to go. I topped out at 3 p.m., with some 1,583 feet of gain over 2.76 miles. With drama in the skies, I captured the views. I recall the Club leader told me that we could see the cathouse from up here. It started to hail slightly, and I was getting a bit chilly, so started down. I did manage to place a register.

There were good views on the way down. My Watch somehow got reset, so no stats for the entire hike. I beagn to get somewhat peaked, as I brought no water or snacks. Worried about a freak accident, I made it back safely. There were wild horses at the top and at the bottom.

I had thought that as I changed clothes, I dropped my car card key. I found it in a pocket which I forgot about, so relieved, I motored off to dinner. Getting good food, it was now 5 p.m. I showed my summit video to the barkeep, and he remarked about being amazed by the high quality. I had been served lots of diet Coke, but forgot to leave a tip.

With my dash cams running, I cruised north along South Virginia Street. Home, I saw the downloads went okay, as my images would not display on my older camera, due to a different memory card being used.

Since this peak is unnamed, and is not so much of a major peak, I do not "count" it. Many good summits, I exclude from my list of ascents. It is now a worthy enough peak, by me, but as I'd have to change my lists, my initial decision stands. When I get my CyberTruck, this would be just another drive-up, so a trivial hike.
