LASSEN VOLCANIC NATIONAL PARK May 10, 2021

Up with food, I felt good enough to do this trip. I had called the Susanville motel to hear about a new Supercharger, so wishing to check it out, I took U. S. 395 north. Stopping at the rest area, I made it to Susanville, CA to find it was just a destination charger. The clerk was friendly, so we chatted a bit. I got a few miles extra charged, and took off west on CA 36.

Arriivng to the park's Sulphur Works, I used the restroom and captured some photos and video. I didn't take long, as the trip goal was the hike to Kings Creek Falls. I mistakenly thought that it was accessible by the Southwest entrance. The ranger told me that it was an extra 2.5 mile walk up the road from the closure. I had to get to the other side of the park, but took the highway to Red Bluff. Missing the turnoff, I decided to get a Supercharge. With now plenty of charge to get back to home, I took Interstate 5 north, with sights of Mt. Shasta.

Then to Manzanita Lake Visitor Center, to find it was about 5 miles walk along the closed road, to the falls trailhead, so I declined this. Now, I had to get home, so took CA 44 eastbound, with stops at the vistapoints. Using a rest area, I made it back to the Susanville inn where I used the destination charger, to give me slightly more range, to make it back home. I had some fries and caffeine, to help get me home. Stopping at Red Rock to get my daily exercise, I motored on home, with sights ahead on U. S. 395 southbound.

I had to be crazy to do this, as I feared for nodding off at the wheel. I must have drunk 15 cans of diet soda, all in my coolers. Driving maybe then 400 miles, I did see a lot of territory. My dash cams recorded it all, but I did not get to see Kings Creek Falls.
