DONNER PEAK 14X AND MT. JUDAH 16X June 23, 2021

Up and raring to go, I had breakfast, then zoomed westbound on Interstate 80 to Donner Pass PCT TH. Up the Pacific Crest Trail, I took the Mt. Judah loop to bag Donner Peak 14X. Doing video to show the way, I clambered to the top. I placed a new register, and had some peanuts and diet soda. Two more peak baggers came up, and they were from the L. A. Sierra Club. They graciously signed in the new register, and remarked that they had run into me the day before.

I bagged first the north summit of Mt. Judah, then hiked to the south summit. Down the loop trail to Roller Pass, I then encountered a thru hiker on his way from Mexico to Canada. He had made good time, stating little snow in the High Sierra. Plenty other hikers to come by, as this was a good year for doing the PCT.

Offering a free buffet and lodging, he refused in favor of a cheeseburger at the ski resort. I lagged behind as I returned on the PCT, with snow plants and lots of wildflowers. Back to the car, I motored east on the Old U. S. 40, with sights of rock climbers at the usual spots.

To Truckee, I went to the old fav haunt of mine, to order just pork honey donburi, as I need to be frugal. Motoring back to Reno, I started to close my eyes as I drove. I wished for plenty of $1 Diet Coke, so wondered when they bring dine-in back. Home safely, I took a shower and got the news. To sleep, I got back up at about 8 p.m., to start on webwork. Clouds in the sky today, so good for time lapse videos.
