LAS VEGAS DAY SIXTY January 9, 2021
Valley of Fire Nevada State Park
With a good, hearty breakfast, I began this fine day. Going to get power, I charged up at the Linq. I had potatoes while I was there. Then to the ATM, in case they did not accept credit cards at wherever.
Taking Interstate 15 northbound, I enjoyed the drive. I stopped for a rest and drink, at the gas station. Taking the exit to the Valley of Fire, I motored along at the speed limit. I took photos at a pullout with a view. I charged the entrance fee of some $10.
First on my agenda, was a revisit to Atlatl Rock. Here in 1979, on one of my Club leads, I never came back till now. Running video, as I climbed the stairs, it was a familiar sight of the glyphs high up on a wall. Children were enjoying the area, and seemed to fail to wonder how primitive man did this.
With a stop at the petrified log, I took a side road to various hikes. Passing the visitor center, I first did the Rainbow Overlook, and also the Fire Wave. Then to White Dome, and morons without masks started to abound. I had to get way off the trail, with none to do this for me, ever. I had fun topping some rocks.
Capturing tons of video, I sure enjoyed the cameras. I made good use of my phone, and also the regular camera. The dash cams will have captured incredible sights. With the low light, there was drama.
Back to the main road, I stopped at the second petrified log. Then to scramble to Elephant Rock, familiar on where it was.
Finished with the park, I may be back for more. I exited to go through Overton, then back to Interstate 15. Wondering if I should head on to Zion, with lodging in St. George, I can do this any day. Though I am gaining lots on my investments, it could collapse, and then I would be done.
Still no vaccine available, but I hear they are giving out shots to the third tier of the population. I had stopped at a CVS to check on availability. With infections spiking, I am so careful. Refusing dining out, I did enjoy that so much. Shame to be dead this close to the vaccine, so I am especially careful. I gave other hikers a wide berth, and better to be safe with my energy.
Zooming back to town on 15, I stopped for a good deal on hot dogs, then got two cans of diet soda.
Home safely, too bad for the hiking Club ban. Some of them may have enjoyed this, but nevermore with their hate and exclusion. To the downloads, I took a shower. No synthetic T shirt, so my cotton Ts get wet or damp.
I have to remind myself, that apostrophes result in some sort of code. I stopped using any, as being a glitch, this may soon be fixed. Problems with webmastering, so it is not so easy.
