LAS VEGAS DAY FIFTY SIX January 5, 2021

Sheephead Mountain (4,270') 2X

Up to get a good breakfast, I drove to the Linq Supercharger to top off the tank. Then, taking NV 160 west, I stopped for a break and photos along the way. I drove through Shoshone, CA, with a stop there. I got a coffee to go, and remembered the good times here.

To Salsberry Pass, I parked the car and took off for my daily hike. I bagged Sheephead Mountain back in 1986, leading a Sierra Club group. We did it in an hour, as I recall, but today, being solo, I stayed careful. Following footprints and a use trail, I encountered some class 2. Making the summit, I captured the view, with a complete photo record of the register captured. Faded scraps in the can would fall apart on handling, so I did not take photos of most of them. Placing a new book, it was really nice on top.

Descending, I got off route, but found my way back as I navigated correctly. Back to the car at about 2 p.m., I decided to forgo a drive north through Death Valley to charge up in Beatty, NV. Back to the cafe in Shoshone, I used the restroom twice as I waited for an order of fries.

Taking the Charlie Brown highway back to Pahrump, I munched on my fries with catsup as I motored along. I stopped at a pullout to speak with some ATV riders, and used the outhouse there.

Then to the free parking garage, to go to the casino cafe to have ramen. After giving a decent tip, I went outside with two showgirls to allow for photos. Then back into the Mall for shopping, I bought a hoodie and three Ts on sale. No gambling today, as my luck has not been that good.

So another successful and safe peak bag, and with two bars on top, I had looked at my website to remind me of my peak ascents number.

Maybe to motor through Death Valley again on another day, it all is not very far from Las Vegas.

Working on more video files, my computer must have crashed as I was gone, with solutions by the computer company tech support. I also had picked up some purchases by a tech locker.

Movie clips.
