LAS VEGAS DAY FOUR November 14, 2020
Up at about 3:30 a.m., I had some online business. Dawdling at home, I finally left after making a reservation for lunch. Out to the Strip, I was asking showgirls for pictures. They now say $20 is the usual tip. So, refused, I sauntered to the restaurant, known for Chinese and Mexican food, both.
I already knew what I wanted, so ordering didn’t take long. It was a seven course entree, all tasty and yummy. Taking photos of them all, I ate them as they brought them out one at a time. Good service, but I only left $6.78 tip. That made the total bill $50 exactly. I had video chatted with family, with sister eating potato chips. They don’t want any of this, even paid to dine and fly.
I then ordered a fruit drink, some $5 for a smaller glass. Sipping it down as sister FaceTime’d, I showed her the decor. Using the restroom a lot, as I had lots of water, I finally left for the car in the free parking garage.
Using the phone to decide where to hike, I chose Red Rock Canyon NCA. Using the car navigator, I beelined over there. They now require reservations to get into the park. So, I took the side road to Calico Basin, with the dash cams running. It was scenic and wild, aside from the homes and roads. I drove to the end of the road, then turned around to park by a trailhead. Hundreds of cars, on a Saturday.
Using the facility, I took some trail. Plenty of rock climbers, so I captured video. I like to watch climbers as they achieve their goals. The trail was only 0.75 mile each way, but it was approaching the sunset. It looks to go to a springs, with trees or shrubs with fall colors. I took another trail back, so I’d hit the road back to my car. Using the facility once more, I left for home.
I forgot again to have diet soda in my cooler. So, on my way here, I was becoming drowsy. Hiking usually revives me, so on doing this, I felt a lot better. Calico Basin has no fee station, so people barred from the park with no reservation, could always come here. Though I didn’t stop the Watch workout app till I was already back on the road, it came up with 246 feet of elevation gain.
Home, with all three dash cams now running, I‘d have a lot of videos. To get them downloaded, edited, and then converted to an .mp4 file, I’d load them onto my website likely overnight.
