HELPER, UTAH August 13, 2020

Motoring early in the dark, taking U. S. 6 northbound, there was no ops for photos then. Coming to Price, UT, there was a travel center. I rested for a long time, as it was still early in the day. Then to continue on, with me desperate for further sleeping and rest. I had to stop at Helper, UT, where there is an historic district to walk. Parking on the street by the gas station, I had a runny stomach, so used the restroom twice.

I had no easily available clean utensils as I needed them, so ate from the cooler items with my fingers. I had potato salad, and also some other salads. These would all be thrown away, as I ran out of ice, and they weren’t too appealing to eat. In the cooler, the melted ice had turned to water, and the food not being sealed thoroughly, got soggy. I had to eat soggy bread in the sandwiches, as I don’t believe in wasting food.

Finding a good restaurant open at eight, I dined with some safety. Nobody wore a mask, including a family with kids and a screaming baby. Ordering the Helpers Special, this was Kielbasa with eggs and home fries. A lot to eat, I also had diet soda. No tip as no safety, with the waitress refusing any mask. She mostly kept her distance, but did put the plate and the bill on my table by hand.

Walking then the main street, it was so photogenic. Even figurines in the historic cathouse, with a photo of Marilyn Monroe. This was good for a stop, and then I disposed of my cans and bottles into a bag set down by the filled up recycle bin. There was an open, free, Covid-19 testing op right there, so I partook. They put the swab way up both nostrils and I had to grunt. I get the results in 2-4 days by my e-mail or phone. They said that fatigue is a symptom, so I might have been infected. Later, they reported to me that the test came up negative. Exhausted, I made a reservation for Lehi, UT.

Motoring on, I stopped at a scenic view to rest more. Finally then to Interstate 15, I zoomed north to exit as my navigator said to do. The motel was right here by the exit, so I checked in, by 3 p.m. Happy to have made it here safely, money is just money, and the motel was higher end. With technology, I enjoyed the stay, with a fine rest. At my laptop, I got the news and took care of business at home. My cams showed my home as fine and normal, so some peace of mind. I’m in a safer neighborhood, so not as much crime to worry about.

With a good rest and sleep, the plans were to get home, or if tired, to lodge in Wells, NV. To get this over with was my only thought. By the Wasatch, there are plenty of peaks to bag, but I had zero thought of this.
