2019-2020 HOLIDAY ROAD TRIP December 24, 2019 to January 6, 2020
Without much travel since I moved to Reno, NV, and then to Fallon, I figured that it was time to get back to it. I had tested myself on a short day to Reno where I bagged three points and a peak. I made arrangement with family, so I’d have a couch to sleep on, while I was in Sacramento. I’m still basically frugal, so checked the bargain winter motel rates along the way, and had both my iPhone and laptop to reserve rooms, or cancel. The forecast was good all along the way, and the initial plan was to visit all the way to New Mexico, and see White Sands National Monument, and also the UFO museum in Roswell. It was an ambitious three week trip.
If I could find a partner, I’d go for further weeks, all the way to wherever fate would take me. It could be to the South or East Coast. But this was not to be. I have money, as I own my home, and applied for a home equity loan which looks to be approved. I can even pay for a companion, but posting for one on Facebook, this was futile.
So, I phoned family and they’d take care of my house plants. It would then be to leave a bit earlier, so I made hasty arrangements, and decided to leave on the day before Christmas. I had some bucket list goals in mind, and also some repeats to see how it was, some years later at some parks and destinations.
I had my Rove 4K dash cam to record the whole way, with plenty of memory cards. It was set for four frames a second, so, speeded up, it takes less memory. If anyone was interested, they can see the entire view ahead as I drove, as I’ve posted on You Tube. Due to a piece of onion that fell into my cigarette lighter, the power does get randomly disconnected, so there are gaps in the record, but as it chimes when the power gets shut off, I can hear this, and then plug the cable back in better. Mostly, the record is continuous.
